Abstract
⺠GH78 and GH106 glycosidase families are widely distributed among microorganisms. ⺠Phylogeny of α-l-rhamnosidases does not correlate with rRNA-gene-based phylogeny. ⺠Many microorganisms have multiple α-l-rhamnosidase genes. ⺠Closest homologues of acidobacterial α-l-rhamnosidases belong to the Bacteroidetes. ⺠Multiple gene transfers between the Acidobacteria and Bacteroidetes are proposed.
