Abstract
⺠Intestinal copper uptake is increased in hypoxia. ⺠Hypoxia increased Ctr1 mRNA expression in Caco-2 cells. ⺠Chemical suppression of hypoxia inducible factors proteins did not block the increase in Ctr1 mRNA in hypoxic cells. ⺠We conclude that increased Ctr1 expression in hypoxia is HIF-independent.
