Abstract
⺠MRPS27 is a mitochondrial pentatricopeptide repeat domain protein that is part of the small subunit of mitochondrial ribosomes. ⺠MRPS27 associates with the mitochondrial 12S rRNA and tRNAGlu. ⺠MRPS27 is required for the efficient translation of mitochondrially encoded proteins. ⺠Knockdown of MRPS27 decreases the abundance of mitochondrial respiratory complexes and the activity of cytochrome c oxidase.
