Abstract
► GFP-CLC and CHC hub domain were constitutively expressed in tobacco cell cultures. ► GFP-CLC does not alter clathrin-mediated endocytosis and response to elicitor cryptogein. ► Hub-expressing cell cultures with wild-type growth rate still display constitutive endocytosis. ► Hub expression precludes stimulation of endocytosis by cryptogein. ► Endocytosis inhibition downregulates cryptogein-induced defense genes.
