Abstract
⺠We found considerable substrate-binding affinity in a non-typical glycosidase subsite of ChiA from Serratia marcescens. ⺠Substrate affinity may promote endo-activity and/or product displacement. ⺠This subsite is necessary for the positioning of N-acetyl groups.
