Abstract
⺠Nm23-H1 is one of the most studied metastatic suppressor proteins with clinical potential for therapies against highly mestatic cancers. ⺠Nm23-H1 has three major enzymatic functions, which are nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK), histidine kinase and 3'-5'exonuclease activities. ⺠A large number of cellular proteins bind to and critically modulate the metastatic potential of Nm23-H1. ⺠Several oncogenic viruses, including EBV, KSHV and HPV encode antigens which negatively regulate Nm23-H1 associated metastatic functions to facilitate cell motility as well as cancer progression.
