Abstract
⺠The fungus Cryptococcus neoformans is an important pathogen of AIDS patients. ⺠The transcription factor Cir1 regulates iron uptake and virulence in C. neoformans. ⺠We examined the influence of iron levels on the abundance of Cir1. ⺠Iron deprivation results in reduced abundance of Cir1. ⺠Cir1 stability is also regulated by redox conditions and proteasome activity.
