Abstract
⺠We studied hESC expansion on 10 different microcarriers in suspension cultures. ⺠Microcarrier and coating choices determine hESC expansion potential and pluripotency. ⺠Positive charged, cylindrical and spherical microcarriers show high cell expansion. ⺠Negative charged, small and macroporous microcarriers have lower expansion potential. ⺠Matrigel or Laminin coatings are essential for long-term stable cultivation of hESC.
