Abstract
► We use a factorial design to study osteogenic differentiation of periosteal cells. ► This allows the contribution of specific factors to an outcome to be assessed. ► We utilize stimuli which have been implicated in osteogenic differentiation. ► We find that the differentiation of periosteal cells requires specific stimuli. ► Dexamethasone functions by augmenting periosteal cell osteogenic differentiation.
