Abstract
⺠We have demonstrated that hypoxia regulates the cystine glutamate exchanger (System Xc). ⺠Hypoxic preconditioning causes an increase in glutathione dependent on System Xc. ⺠Inhibition of system Xc attenuates hypoxic preconditioning neuroprotection.
