Abstract
âºTwo primate species defended food patches rather than core areas or territories. ⺠The core and peripheral range areas contained relatively equal amounts of food. ⺠Different food characteristics predicted aggression by each primate species. ⺠A new model of primate resource defence in intergroup interactions is proposed.
