Abstract
⺠Macaca tonkeana and M. fuscata differ in their tolerance levels as well as in play. ⺠M. fuscata adults played mostly with immatures, M. tonkeana adults showed no age preference. ⺠Gender and age differences in macaque adult play support the covariation hypothesis. ⺠As in humans, play in macaques reflects the nature of interindividual relationships.
