Abstract
⺠Two new forms of rescue behaviour recently were reported in a Mediterranean ant. ⺠We tested whether this special behaviour characterizes other sand-dwelling ants. ⺠Two more species display precision rescue only to nestmates, mirroring their ecology. âºÂ Our study demonstrates how simple mechanisms can produce complex behaviour.
