Abstract
⺠We examine fledging behaviour regarding offspring sex, paternity status and body mass in blue tits. ⺠Male extrapair young (EPY) fledge earlier than their siblings. ⺠This effect remains when correcting for body mass, a correlate of hatching order. ⺠This suggests that male EPY may profit from both maternal and nonmaternal effects.
