Abstract
⺠Living in social groups involves various benefits and costs. ⺠We examine personality-dependent shoaling preferences in mosquitofish. ⺠Shoal preferences vary with individual's sociability, shoal size and social type. ⺠Fish prefer large shoals and shoals made of social individuals. ⺠Asocial individuals, known as better dispersers, shoal less and are less choosy.
