Abstract
⺠Male great bowerbirds reuse about 50% of decorations from previous years. ⺠Males that reuse decorations have higher-quality displays than males that do not. ⺠Males that reuse decorations collect fewer decorations and tend to steal less. ⺠Animals can reduce signalling costs by accumulating 'wealth' over several years.
