Abstract
►We quantify the stability of social bonds among female baboons at two sites. ► We compare observed stability against simulated values based on chance. ► Relationships with most preferred partners were more stable than expected by chance. ► Relationships with less preferred partners did not vary from chance. ► Females living in smaller groups with more close kin had the most stable bonds.
