Abstract
⺠We examine flexibility in manual gesture comprehension in wild chimpanzees. ⺠Gestures are associated with specific contexts, responses and interaction outcomes. ⺠Both gesture and context are used to infer signaller's goal. ⺠Response is influenced by the dominance relationship between the signaller and recipient.
