Heritability and genetic correlations of escape behaviours in juvenile scallop Argopecten purpuratus

► We estimated genetic control and genetic correlations of escape response traits in Argopecten purpuratus scallop. ► Results shows that escape responses of A. purpuratus have substantial additive genetic variation. ► Thus, the analysed escape response traits can evolve through natural selection. ► Genetic correlations among escape response traits were also high. ► Thus, selection on one escape trait will affect that of another, facilitating their coevolution.
