Abstract
⺠We tested auditory perception of great tits in the laboratory. ⺠Song detection was better for high- compared to low-frequency songs in urban noise. ⺠In woodland noise there was no difference in detectability. ⺠For song discrimination birds used aspects of the whole song in woodland noise. ⺠In urban noise discrimination relied entirely on features of high-frequency elements.
