Abstract
⺠We investigated colour pattern plasticity in variable light environments. ⺠Fish in turbid-like environments increased the brightness of their colour patterns. ⺠The simulated increase in turbidity also affected shoaling behaviour. ⺠Both physiological and behavioural traits maintain visual signalling behaviour.
