Abstract
⺠We examined pre- and postcopulatory mechanisms of sexual selection in redside dace. ⺠Relative amounts and spectral properties of red spawning coloration were significantly greater in males. ⺠Females did not favour males with relatively larger, more saturated or brighter red spawning coloration area. ⺠Red spawning area of males, sperm velocity and sperm competition success were positively correlated.
