Abstract
⺠We investigated social group and kinship effects on goat call ontogeny. ⺠Half siblings had similar calls when they had been raised in the same social group. ⺠Full siblings had more similar calls than half siblings. ⺠Group identity cues provide evidence for a social environment impact on vocal ontogeny. ⺠Vocal plasticity could be far more widespread in mammals than previously believed.
