Abstract
⺠Cross-fostered younger and older zebra finch chicks fledge at the same age. ⺠Zebra finches adjust nestling care to shortened or protracted offspring demand. ⺠Postfledging care period is not shortened to compensate for prolonged nestling care. ⺠Parents are highly sensitive to chick demands.
