Abstract
► We studied territorial defence in the Zenaida dove, a monogamous tropical bird. ► Males were more likely to react to intruders than females. ► However, only female reactivity to intruders varied with intrusion pressure. ► Sex of the intruder had no effect on the reactivity of males and females.
