Abstract
► We examined effectiveness of cuckoo-hawk mimicry against the great reed warbler. ► Great reed warblers attacked both cuckoo and sparrowhawk mounts near their nest. ► Great reed warblers discriminated the cuckoo from the sparrowhawk. ► Cuckoo-hawk mimicry is not effective against more aggressive hosts.
