Abstract
Electrolyte supported as well as anode supported single-cells based on BaIn0.3Ti0.7O2.85 (BIT) electrolyte were developed. In these cells, Ni-BIT cermet was used as anode and La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 as cathode. Electrolyte supported cells were fabricated by coating slurries of anode and cathode materials on the circular faces of sintered electrolyte discs. The maximum power (Pmax) drawn was 15 mW cm−2 at 30 mA cm−2. Anode supported cells were fabricated by co-pressing and co-sintering anode and electrolyte powders. The thickness of electrolyte in anode supported cells was reduced to 80 μm and the area specific resistance decreased considerably. The value of Pmax improved to ∼100 mW cm−2.
