This communication reports on the synthesis, crystal structure and anticancer activities of a new Pt(II) complex [Pt(Diaz)4]Cl2 · H2O of a heterocyclic thione, where Diaz = 1,3-diazinane-2-thione. Solid state 195Pt, 15N and 13C NMR are also reported along with other spectroscopic data. The cytotoxic evaluation of the complex against A549, MCF7, HCT15 and HeLa human cancer lines is reported. The title compound was found to be a better cytotoxic agent against MCF7 than cisplatin.
