•One Co-based MOF prepared by O-donor bridging and N-donor chelating mixed-ligands•The MOF constructed by infinite sinusoidal-like rod-shaped Co–{Co3}-chains as SBUs•The MOF displays canted antiferromagnetic behavior.
A novel Co-based metal–organic framework {[Co4(1,3-bdc)3(bta)2(CH3CH2OH)2]·CH3OH·H2O}n (1) (H2bdc = 1,3-benzenedicarboxylate, Hbta = benzotriazolate), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compound 1 represents a new structural topology constructed by infinite sinusoidal-like rod-shaped Co–{Co3}-chains as secondary building units. Moreover, the magnetic properties of 1 have been well investigated.
