A novel 3D polyoxometalate-linked polypseudo-rotaxane framework, [Cu(L)2(HPWVI10WV2O40)][Cu(L)(H2O)4]⋅4H2O (1) (L = 4,4′-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)biphenyl), was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Compound 1 contains a 2D grid-like sheet, which is constructed from bi-nuclear [Cu2L2]4 + cycles and Keggin anion linkages. The 1D polymeric [CuL(H2O)4]2 + chains penetrate the 2D sheets at an inclined angle to generate an interesting 3D polypseudo-rotaxane architecture.
