Abstract
⺠The reaction between enneamolybdomanganate(IV) and pyridoxine is found to involve formation of a precursor complex. ⺠The interaction between the pyridoxine and the oxidant occurs through oxygen atoms non bonded to the central Mn(IV) ion. ⺠The final product pyridoxic acid was characterised by its characteristic fluorescence spectra. ⺠A plausible mechanism was proposed and the corresponding rate law was derived.
