Self-penetrating coordination networks have recently been demonstrated as an important family of coordination polymers with new topologies and properties. However, the design and control of self-penetrating systems is still an enthralling challenge. In this review, we present the topological types of self-penetrating coordination networks, mainly with single-connectivity, and summarize their designing and constructing strategy.
