Two new three-dimensional complexes formulated as [Na2M(ADA)2(H2O)4]n (M = Ni(1), Co(2); ADA = N-(carbamoylmethyl)iminodiacetato dianion) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG analysis and X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1 and 2 are isostructural and crystallize in the triclinic system, space group P1¯. ADA ligand acts as chelating and bridging functions featuring a novel hexadentate binding mode. Magnetic measurements show that there is weak ferromagnetic interactions between the adjacent Ni(II) ions in 1.
