The chiral coordination polymer [Co2(D-cmph)2(4-bpmp)]n (1, D-cmph = D-camphorate, 4-bpmp = bis(4-pyridylmethyl)piperazine) exhibits [Co2(D-cmph)2]n layers with embedded {Co2(OCO)4} equatorial–equatorial bridged paddlewheel clusters. The long-spanning dipyridyl tethering ligands link the layers into a 6-connected 3-D self-penetrated network with 446108 mab topology, in which shortest 6-membered circuits are penetrated by two others. High thermal stability is observed for the self-penetrated network. Antiferromagnetic coupling (J = −3.9(1) cm− 1) is observed in 1.
