Abstract
A new red emitting (λem = 610 nm) discotic metal containing liquid crystal, NIRPAC, exhibiting a columnar phase over a broad temperature range (35–173 °C) has been successfully synthesised by an appropriate functionalisation of the cyclopalladated nile red molecular fragment.
