Abstract

Two novel morpholine-containing silicon (IV) phthalocyanines, namely bis (2-morpholine) ethoxy phthalocyaninatosilicon (2) and bis (2-(N-methyl-morpholine)) ethoxy phthalocyaninatosilicon diiodide (3), have been prepared. The complexations of these two compounds with three serum proteins including the bovine serum albumin, human serum albumin, and transferrin have also been investigated. The non-aggregated compound 3 exhibits a high photodynamic activity towards B16 melanoma tumour cells with an IC50 value of 0.30 μM.

Graphical abstractTwo novel morpholine-containing silicon (IV) phthalocyanines have been prepared. The non-aggregated and water-soluble compound 3 exhibits a high photodynamic activity towards B16 cancer cells. The interesting effects of N-methylation of morpholine on complexations between phthalocyanines and serum proteins (albumin and transferrin) were also reported.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
