Abstract

Reaction of Cd(NO3)2 · 4H2O and NH4SCN with dpk (dpk = di-2-pyridyl ketone) in CH3OH afforded a novel cubane-like polynuclear complex [Cd(dpk–OMe)(NCS)]4, 1, [dpk–OMe = anion of the hydroxyl methoxy-di(2-pyridyl)methane] has been characterized by X-ray structural analysis. The unprecedented monoanion ligand dpk–OMe [dpk–OMe = anion of the hydroxyl methoxy-di(2-pyridyl)methane] was prepared by dpk in methanolic solution.
