Abstract

•A di-thiocyanato bridged dimeric copper(II) compound has been synthesized.•The ligand has been thiocyanated at the 4 position of the aromatic ring.•C–H/π interactions in the compound forms 2D layer structure.

A di-thiocyanato bridged dimeric copper(II) compound has been synthesized using Cu(ClO4)2 and a tridentate Schiff base ligand H2L. During compound formation, ligand H2L has been thiocyanated at the 4 position of the aromatic ring. The X-ray diffraction study confirms the nucleophilic thiocyanation of aryl ring.

Graphical abstractA di-thiocyanato bridged dimeric copper(II) compound has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The ligand is thiocyanated at the 4 position of the aromatic ring during compound formation. The synthesis and characterization of the compound report an efficient and novel method for nucleophilic thiocyanation of activated aromatic compounds.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
