Abstract
[Ag2(9-aca)2]n (9-acaHÂ =Â 9-anthracenecarboxylic acid) has polymeric ribbons of linked disilver(I) bridged dicarboxylate units. [Ag4(9-aca)4(NH3)2] has two syn-syn and two syn-anti bridging carboxylates, and two Ag(I) ions are each bonded to an NH3. In vitro, both complexes are cytotoxic against human microbial pathogens and two mammalian cancer cell lines.
