Abstract

•One novel metal–organic framework has been synthesized and characterized.•It exhibits a uninodal 8-connected framework based on binuclear cadmium clusters.•This compound presents a new kind of self-penetrating network with (424·64) topology.

A novel metal–organic framework based on binuclear cadmium clusters has been synthesized and characterized, which represents a new kind of 8-connected uninodal network topology presently known for self-penetrating systems.

Graphical abstractA novel metal–organic framework, [Cd2(cdc)2(ibpi)2]·2H2O (1) (ibpi = 1-(4-(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzyloxy)phenyl)-1H-imidazole, and H2cdc = 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid), has been synthesized and structurally characterized. This compound represents an unusual 8-connected uninodal network topology presently known for self-penetrating systems.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
