Abstract

A new mononuclear dysprosium complex formulated as [Dy(dppz) (tfnb)3]·0.375H2O (dppz = dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′-c]phenazine; tfnb = 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-naphthyl)-1,3- butanedione) was synthesized, structurally and magnetically characterized. X-ray diffraction study reveals that the central DyIII ion in the complex adopts an approximately square-antiprismatic (SAP) geometry. The complex shows frequency-dependent ac magnetic susceptibilities, indicating single-ion magnet behavior.
