Abstract
A new mixed halogenidomercurate(II) ion, [HgBr4Cl]3â has been isolated in the form of complex salt, [Co(NH3)6][HgBr4Cl], characterized by spectroscopic techniques and single crystal X-ray structure determination. This is a first structural report of the anion [HgBr4Cl]3â. The crystal lattice is stabilized by the extensive hydrogen bonding (NâHâ¦Br/Cl) resulting in a bi-layered structure.
