A new functionalized zinc-substituted polyoxovanadate, [Zn(en)3]2[Zn(bpp)(en)2][Zn(en)2(H2O)][(bpp)Zn2As8V12O40(H2O)]2 · bpp · 7H2O 1 (en = ethylenediamine, and bpp = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane) has been synthesized and characterized by IR, TG, and single-crystal X-ray analysis. The wave-like one-dimensional chain of 1 is constructed from neutral bi-supporting zinc-substituted polyoxovanadate clusters and zinc-substituted polyoxovanadate anions, which are directly linked by bpp organic ligands. Magnetic measurement shows antiferromagnetic interaction for 1.
