Abstract
Bioassay-guided isolation of the CH2Cl2/MeOH extract from the Australian sponge Iotrochota sp. resulted in the purification of two new N-cinnamoyl-amino acids, iotrochamides A (1) and B (2). The chemical structures of 1 and 2 were determined by 1D/2D NMR and MS data analyses. Compounds 1 and 2 were shown to inhibit Trypanosoma brucei brucei with IC50 values of 3.4 and 4.7 μM, respectively.
