Abstract

The present work analyses the carbon dioxide (CO2) capture process by means of absorption with chemical reaction with glucosamine aqueous solutions, using a bubble column reactor (BCR). Experimental results indicate that this reagent has a similar behaviour to other common amines (i.e. monoethanolamine, widely used in CO2 capture), as regarding the capture rate of this acidic gas. The value of the mass transfer coefficient corresponding to the liquid phase has been determined, and the effect of different operation conditions upon the value of that coefficient has also been analysed (amine concentration, pH and gas flow-rate).
