Abstract
⺠Effects of four mutations identified in prostate cancer patients were characterized at a molecular-functional level. ⺠The data indicate that the mutations destabilize the enzyme structure thereby influencing proton gating. ⺠The bacterial R. sphaeroides cytochrome c oxidase was used as a model to investigate effects of disease-related mutations in the enzyme.
