Abstract
⺠Calcitonin-like diuretic hormone (CT/DH) mRNA and prepropeptides are well conserved across insect species. ⺠CT/DH-like immunoreactivity is present in cells throughout the central nervous system of insects in which it has been examined. ⺠CT/DHs have so far been shown to be mainly involved in regulating water and ion homeostasis. ⺠Phylogenetic analysis of receptors predicts one CT/DH receptor in most insect genomes.
