Abstract
⺠The Rhodnius prolixus cDNA encoding the FGLa/allatostatins has been sequenced. ⺠In situ hybridization indicates an extensive distribution of neurons throughout the CNS. ⺠Rhopr-FGLa/ASTs are biologically active on tissues associated with feeding. ⺠Rhopr-FGLa/AST-2 and 3 vary in their effectiveness in inhibiting muscle contractions.
