Abstract
► The Rhodnius prolixus cDNA encoding the FGLa/allatostatins has been sequenced. ► In situ hybridization indicates an extensive distribution of neurons throughout the CNS. ► Rhopr-FGLa/ASTs are biologically active on tissues associated with feeding. ► Rhopr-FGLa/AST-2 and 3 vary in their effectiveness in inhibiting muscle contractions.
