Abstract
► 5-Aminolevulinic acid (ALA, 30 mg l−1) recovered the plants treated with 200 mM NaCl. ► ALA does not affect Na+ transport from the roots to the shoots. ► ALA might suppress the inflow of Na+. ► NaCl induced an increase in number of plastoglobuli due to degradation of thylakoids. ► ALA treatment develops the more organized granal stacks in chloroplasts.
