Abstract
► We have purified two basic peroxidases from Selaginella martensii fronds. ► Both peroxidases show high affinity for coniferyl and sinapyl alcohols. ► Several tryptic peptides have been sequenced and assigned to typical peroxidases. ► SmaPrx2 may have an important role in lignin and suberin formation. ► SmaPrx3 is a syringyl peroxidase based on kinetic parameters and peptide sequence.
