Abstract
⺠We have purified two basic peroxidases from Selaginella martensii fronds. ⺠Both peroxidases show high affinity for coniferyl and sinapyl alcohols. ⺠Several tryptic peptides have been sequenced and assigned to typical peroxidases. ⺠SmaPrx2 may have an important role in lignin and suberin formation. ⺠SmaPrx3 is a syringyl peroxidase based on kinetic parameters and peptide sequence.
